Barron and Smith were commissioned to design a new block for this Primary School to provide much needed larger classrooms for the Reception Year Group. Three new Classrooms are provided along with a large Resource Area, Group Room, Office and new WCs for both pupils and staff.
Externally the new building sits comfortably with the existing buildings. A brick was selected to reflect the existing and the lines of the existing concrete soffit extended to unify the new building with the existing Nursery, to which it is attached.
Internally natural daylight is maximised with Octagonal lantern rooflights provided to each classroom offering glare free north light to the darker ends of the classrooms. Smaller rooflights are also provided to the internal WC areas.
